Winning Artisan Design Team Projects Blog Hop: Day 1

Welcome to Day One of the Winning Artisan Design Team Projects Blog Hop!!

Give me a minute....

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

OK.

If you came from Becky's blog, you are on the right track! If you want to start at the beginning with Alanna Wharf click here!

For the next ten days, each of the ten awesome 2013-2014 design team members will be showing their winning projects that were displayed at convention.

I am starting out with a scrapbook page. Yip.  Its the reason I applied!

I am a traditional scrapbooker and I love it.  At heart, I don't feel like a card maker but instead a memory maker and preserver.  So who knows what I may have in store for you over the next year. If you are not familiar, many of us are doing hybrid pages where we are using elements in the digital world.  However, none of my Artisan projects are in that world... I am pretty excited to dive into that world!! :)

Scrapbook Page #1
First, I edited this picture using Instagram and then played with my Canon 'Selphy' printer (see here if you are intrigued). This page would be more on the shabby chic, vintage side.  This is a side that I played around in last year and you'll still see me come back to it from time to time; however, generally I like lots of layers with different mediums.

To create this look, I distressed all the page by using crumb cake and an eighth of a piece of sponge.  I also used my sanding tool to distress the edges of the paper.  Sometimes if I want big tears, I just grab my scissors and use it as if you were trying to curl ribbon.

I took my refill ink and made big drops straight out of the jar.  You can see that because it wasn't mixed with anything it went straight through the paper. This was the look I was going for.

You can see I did some stamping as well as used little elements including paper clips and trims, etc.

One of the things you'll notice is that I love doodling on my elements.  To create a border I simply made a border around my page.

Voila!! (See products used at the bottom of this post!)

Now, get ready to see Cindy - she's awesome... and not just her stuff!! Keep your eye on her - I adore sparkle and there just might be a little shine over there. Make sure you get through all ten because they are absolutely stunning and we each have our own style.

SOUS Project Life: Sunny Day

Back to show you another project as part of the Stuck on U Sketches.  This week's Project Life challenge is: SUNNY DAY

Did you find my sun yet? Well, yellow reminds me of the sun.  And the only reason these two are in the water is because of that sun..  It's been multiple sunny days here in Newfoundland!!
(I am melting... but the scale is not dictating the way I feel)

If you look close enough there's a sun on my journal tag!
This time, I used Stampin' Up\s brand new juornalling cards called 'Rise and Shine'. You might be asking... Heck, I never heard of any new journalling cards released.... well... they are MDS (My Didigtal Studio). So, I went online.  Loved them. Added them to my cart. Paid and downloaded.  Oh, and printed them right away.

The world is changing folks.

Play around with hybrid layouts.  Not only that but play around with this challange!!

This layout was created with Stampin' Up accesories including Gingham Garden washi, basic pearls, retired daffodil delight buttons, linen thread, cute elements clips, 1/4" stitiched grosgrain, 'tag a bag' tags and the MDS Rise and Shine journalling cards.

Once again I now have six pockets because I adherred my 6 pieces using sticky strip on top of the page protector. I also used pearls on the photos and jouralling cards... Why? Because they look like bubbles!!  And that picture is of my daughter mowing the lawn with a bubble lawnmower... cute, huh?

Doesn't the bordered edges + washi tape feel make it look like I just slapped this together? Did I? Hmm.

The Box... and a banner

What am I up?

Trying to stay cool and find extra time... Has anyone found any lately?

Off to a wedding now!! (I do love weddings...)

But guess what arrived??? YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  Watch for a finalist blog hop with all 20 on Aug 5th to 8th.  The ten Artisans selected begin their posts every Wednesday on August 14th.
I also created a Cat in the Hat birtday banner - I used the Stampin' Up square and cirle framelits (how useful ad efficient are they?)  This was made from real red and tempting turquoise 12x12 cardstock, as well as whisper white cardstock.

Hold up. How did I get those spots?

That was the fun part! I grabbed my SU whisper white craft ink and a sponge dauber.... and went to town.  What a great effect!!!

Finalyl I tied it all together with my favorite kind of grosgrain ribbon... that yes, I have hoarded. And still extremely pleased with myself that I did so.

Shoot. Running out of time!!

Stampin' Up Convention Swap Card

Well, I promised you it was cool!

This was created using the following Stampin' Up current products: Yippee-Skippee stamp set, Chevron (smoky slate) ribbon, coastal cabanna ruffled ribbon, basic pearls, mambo melon reinker, tempting turquise reinker, paint brush, rubbing alcohol, basic black cardstock, basic black journalling pen for the doodled border.

It's never a bad thing to play around. There's instructions on how to get this look on my Card of the Week #001 post.

Does this bring you back to the days of fluorescent spandex and tie dyed shirts?

Yup. That was the point.

Cheers

Here's the inside and outside of the box we received after we came down from the stage... Wow! Loved it!
Ohhhhh the bracelet that was inside!!!!
And look - a customized stamp!!  Love! This is coming home with me in my carry on!

Myself and Sarah Douglas, Shelli's daughter.  She's pretty awesome!!

Some of our gang that came from Newfoundland - a total of 19 of us took the trip down!

Catherine and Cathy.... Aren't we cute?

LOOK WHAT"S COMING????

Doing make and takes....

This was before I actually received the honor... geez, if I only knew! I got to hang out in the special 'recognition room'

Waiting to hear the news...

On Sunday we were lucky enough to see the amazing Mormon Tabernacle choir doing their broadcast. Ah-MAZING!

Loved this saying at Riverton in the Stampin' Up Head Office.

Yummy cupcakes after awards night... well.. they were a little too sweet...... (wait for it)... I am sweet enough already! HAHAHHAHA!

Look-y, Look-y. It's Justin Krieger, Catherine and I from Catherine and Cathy Create!  (Darn, we missed Anna and Tiz missed on this picture... :)

Yup, people were just hanging from the rafters.

Peek a Boo PAULA! HAHAHA. Hanging out at Riverton.

At my display board.. I wasn't crying at ALL! I just thought it was so special to see my daughter and son on the pictures for all to see.

THE END called for confetti, of course! (it didn't sound like gun shots at all. Nope. I wasn't scared.)
