My Paper Pumpkin: Circles & Bags Project #5

Whhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaat..?

Yes, I used the negative of the February My Paper Pumpkin as a mask.

I painted gesso + melon mambo reinker in the holes and then doodled around the circles.

Pretty cool background, right?

Note that this project was created as inspiration for the My Pumpkin Challenge.
Make sure you link up and play along!

Have a fab day!

CELEBRATION BANNER MINI ALBUM | AWW

(photo credit to Sandra Lee Photography)

Hi.

I can truly say that this Artisan Team is one of the most special group of woman I have ever been involved with.  We are from all different parts of North America and most definitely are different..very different.. Some of us are "fancy", others are sarcastic, one or two might be emotional and kind hearted, a couple are very active where as the rest of us are envious...one thing for sure is that one of us is definitely very "pink"!  We have bonded in our daily conversations.. It's possible that I feel a little too familiar with some of their toes. :>

..it turns out we know way too much about each other without it ever being said "out loud"...
And we can definitely tell one style from another.

SO..
When Connie wrote me a message and said "Hey Cath... you should do a mini album with that Celebration Banner." I replied "Well now, Miss Collins, you are reading my mind."

Then it hit me.  We are, in every sense, "A Team".  Sure, we are individuals but we act like a team and work as a team.  We are proud of each other and embrace each other's misfortunes.

For anyone out there thinking about applying for the 2014-2015 team but aren't sure - Please apply.
You won't regret it and you'll have friends for a lifetime. And that's the best reason there is, isn't it?

Now. Wipe those tears off your computers and check out the rest of my album.  It's made of 3 banners using front and back from the Celebration Banner kit, as well as 2 Tag-A-Bag gift bags with pockets for double sided photos.   And the best part was it took me 2 hours. Get 'er done!

Project Life: Salmonier Park

This week's project life challenge at Stuck on U Sketches is Butterflies!

I was inspired by the project life style but this time used a plain 12x12 piece of paper.  I couldn't find the pocket protector style I wanted. There's not a lot of embellishments but I love this layout as it details our lovely day at the Park... the nature Park, in which we saw a handful of animals... bu it was a gorgeous day.

It reminds me of a gallery wall... in which I really need to start finishing... er... starting at my house.

Have a great Monday.. Snowing here. 15 cms. 30-40cm coming on Weds.  I've lost hope for Spring.

Cheers,
Cathy

Rustic Love | AWW

Well, now... you might say "this isn't your style, Cath.."

And I would reply, "Its my style now... because that signature Connie Collins' style is rubbing off on me like nobody's business."

Next thing you know I'll have ordered that Gingham wheel...
So nice to see you Friends!!  Here's the details in short form style...

1. Lots of layers = love

2. Frayed burlap + linen thread + soft suede ink = love

3. Stamp on vellum + fussy cut it out = floating words with love

4. Paper Piercing = love

5. Daffodil Delight + Sponging in circles from inside to out = love

6. Hardwood stamp = SERIOUS love.

All of the above = RUSTIC LOVE
WAIT NOW.  Is this the third week in a row that I used the sentiment "enjoy" from the Simply Celebrate stamp set?

Yup. Yup it is.  And that probably means love too.  It might also mean you should just buy it.

As my father in law would say, "Now that's something."

Using a Negative | CCC Tags Challenge

"Hi"

That about covers it most of the time, doesn't it.  All you have to do, is say it and already you've got a smile.  I love this little thinlit from the labels thinlit collection so I used it for the Catherine and Cathy Create March Tags Challenge:

"Use a Negative"

Simple but sweet.

The thinlits and framelits make doing negatives super easy.  Test it out!!  This month the Ampersand embossing folder is up for grabs so link up for your chance to win!

I couldn't stop there... I had to use the die cut I used to create the negative.  This week my friend, Jen Timko, created a sketch for the Freshly Made Sketches team so I thought I would give it a whirl.
Thanks Jen!!

...and "Hi!"
While I was searching for the perfect "hi", I ran across my Word Bubble framelits and thought I would try that out for a tag.  I have a list of 6 baby cards to make and its growing... I have got to get through that list...  This stamp comes from the "Baby We've Grown" set and its one of those sets where I said out loud: I will never give this out away.  :>
And here it is up close!

Thanks for dropping by!

March 2014 Mommy and Me Kit

It was crazy hair day today... Can you tell...

This month's kit is inspired by rainbows and shamrocks.  Its a kit focused on helping with fine motor skills but also organization... Clearly my princess needs to continue working on orgnizing her fruit loops.  Or perhaps its "just her".  Regardless, we had fun especially eating them!!

Make sure you check out this tab if you are interested in a month coming up... and if you want a sneak peek of this month's kit... my brother, Hector, was set to work in his workshop creating eggs... I wonder what will be in store...

My Paper Pumpkin: Circles & Bags Project #3

It's about time you came back to us here at "My Paper Pumpkin" because its totally getting better and bigger.  Polymer stamps... more STUFF!!  It seems SU is learning their lesson and to make it up to you they are throwing in a set of in color markers that would normally cost you $19.95!! Only until March 31st so sign up today at www.mypaperpumpkin.com.
This project was created as inspiration for the My Pumpkin Challenge
Make sure you link up and play along!
The stamps from this kit was from the summer of 2013 and I simply loved it.  I love big sentiments so this was right up my alley. I used pool party ink to stamp and then I stamp three or four times before re-inking to get the ombre effect. You gotta love it!
Have a fab day!

Thanks & Enjoy! | AWW

I did it again.
I used the Simply Celebrate stamp set.

And it won't be the last time either.

It's that awesome. I'm awesome. You're awesome. Let's "simply celebrate" awesome.
(I'll be okay. Not enough sleep. Too much caffeine... weeee..nuuuu...weeee...nu...*Despicable Me reference*... maybe I won't be okay?!?)
There's a group of employees out there that have been working really hard because there's been illnesses and turnover, etc, etc.  I wanted to show them that I recognized the hard work they were putting in so I sent over some coffee and chocolate one Saturday morning.

It's the little things, isn't it?

... Are you Canadian? Then you know how delicious these treats are.... Are you American..."Non-Canadian"? (Is that even a word? What is wrong with me today?) You probably don't.  You'll have to come for a visit and get some!!  It doesn't stop there.  We have KETCHUP flavored chips. YES! GASP!! "What a novel idea?!?"  You can get some of those too.  Pr'haps I'll go out and get some right now. ;)

"Thank you and enjoy"!!

Keep hopping along to see one of my favorite people! Cindy!

My Paper Pumpkin: Circles & Bags Project #2

Oh, don't you love this My Paper Pumpkin kit.. so awesome!
(See video below for the full details)

This project was created as inspiration for the My Pumpkin Challenge
Make sure you link up and play along!

Here's the tag up close! The kit came with several Bermuda Bay die cut circles, as well as two large circle co-ordinating stamps.  The sentiment comes from the very first My Paper Pumpkin, which was released a year ago this month.  This kit continues to be a stamp set I use frequently.

The circles on the gift bag is simply my sponge daubers dabbed in Whisper White craft ink. Love that look and so easy.

Email me for more information on My Paper Pumpkin if you are interested in joining the monthly kits at inthecatcave@hotmail.com

So easy, so cute. Enjoy! | AWW

And so, here we are.
March.
No sound of Spring though....
I'll just enjoy the -25 degree weather. Repeat.

But we are back again with another Artisan Wednesday Wow brought to you by the Artisan Design Team from Stampin' Up! You should have come from Becky's blog but keep clicking and you won't miss a thing.

This particular card is so easy.  I am in love with this stamp "enjoy" from the Simply Celebrate stamp set... and I am in love with the Fresh Prints DSP stack.  The little heart was "kidnapped" from the Hip Hip Hooray kit.  If you need a quick card  voila!

I also have a bonus card for you today!  This was also created from the Fresh Prints stack, as well as the sale-a-bration banner punch. To create the "dots", I got out my markers and colored them several times.  It looks like it would take time but it really doesn't.  Enjoy!
Notice on this card, I actually scored the DSP by a quarter and also at a half.  As such, there's a small quarter inch strip that folds onto the back piece of cardstock. From the front, it looks like there's a seam.  Cute!

Now off you go to see Cindy!!! Brrrrrrrrrrr.

Catherine and Cathy Create: Luck o' the Irish

We are back with a new challenge for the month of March...
CHALLENGE: Luck o' the Irish!

I adore St. Patrick's Day... I really do.
Its a bit of the culture here in Newfoundland.
So, I can't wait to get GREEN.
I told you I played around with My Digital Studio, which is the long name for MDS.  I am not a guru but I sure could whip this off pretty quick! This is a premade template called Lucky Framable.  So, I downloaded the digital file.  I then opened it in MDS.  I then shared the project as a .pdf.  I printed it twice. Framed it and popped off certain words... and added a "wee bit o' glitter'.
For $2.50... its cheap home decor.  This is a full 8.5"x 11".
FUN.
I can't wait to play some more!!!
If you haven't seen, I have a fundraiser that is going to help support the Alzheimers Society of NL.  This is a charity near and dear to my heart.  My grandfather and I share a love of creativity and this is my way of keeping his legacy alive.

For $30 Canadian, you receive 20 cards with envelopes.  This kit is the Hip Hip Hooray kit from Stampin' Up! however, I create the cards for you.  They are ready to go!  There is a variety of greetings and all cards are blank inside.  For each pack sold, $5 goes to Alzheimers.  Shipping is $5 extra. Email me at inthecatcave@hotmail.com for details.
