Its Your Birthday | #tgifc205

The TGIF Challenge Design Team brings you inspiration each week beginning on... Friday, of course! Make sure you are following along every week for crafty inspiration!

I began my project this week by breaking out my balloon punch again. Every time I punched balloons out, I was reminded how much I love punches because they are so quick and easy. Once I sorted out my colours, I distressed the outside of the edges with the matching colour - this gives the perception of depth.

Nothing says celebration like balloons so be sure to grab this punch - its definitely a favourite of mine!  Don't forget to link up your projects and play along - we love checking out your projects each week!

Best Catch Ever! | Fancy Friday Blog Hop

We are casing the catty this month with the Fancy Friday Design Team.
And I am pumped!

This was my chance to finally use the Best Catch Bundle that I have been hoarding away.
There was a card in the catalog that caught my eye which made this a must have product for me.
Check out the catalogue version!
Nice, right?

I did not stray from the style or colours.
The only exception is I layered a stitched rectangle behind the watercolour card front.

I had so much fun
Check out my process... quite a lot faster!

But don't stop here, keep hopping along to my fancy friend,
Sylwia Schreck!
Are you following me on instagram?
This is where I show the majority of my projects and inspiration, along side my loves and life.
Be sure to find me @cathycaines.

Let's Celebrate You. | Be Inspired Blog Hop

I am so excited to be creating again if only for a little while! I was adventuring across the country in Oregon last week, then across my beautiful province of Newfoundland to Corner Brook this past weekend and tomorrow I cross the Atlantic Ocean to Nova Scotia!

But before I go, I created a card for the Be Inspired Design Team. This month we are trying to inspire you by "blinging it up!" To get inspired I first went back to the check out the Broadway Bound Designer Series Paper. And that was all I need as I found the black, gold and silver confetti on the white paper.

There's several layers of fun - I always love the black and gold combination!

That's it for now, I can't wait to see what Manuela Geiswinkler has created - she's up next!

Happy Graduation | A-Team Reunited

How cool is this?

I've reunited with the past 2018 Artisan Design Team to show you some of our projects that we have been working on lately. I miss and love these girls so I can't wait to see what they are up to.

What have I been up to? ://  As an East Coast Canadian, I am still digging out my drive way and waiting for the signs of Spring to arrive. While I am crafting a little bit, I am mostly travelling. One might say I am a intermittent Snow Bird as I flock to the higher temperatures with the rest of Canada. You'll see more from me but until then, let's see what I created for this reunion.

For today's project, I water coloured using my Aqua Painter and the Melon Mambo and Pacific Point refill inks. I embellished with some of my favourite stars and pearls from Stampin' Up! Graduation is just around the corner so I am stocking up! You can find the 'Happy Graduation' sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.

Thanks for dropping by! Be sure to check out Jennifer Frost's project. Honestly, she will impress you. She has that 'something' special every single time.

Target = joy | Simple Scrapper SPARK Magazine

I don’t know what it is about Target but my heart swoons when I think about shopping there. Just walking into the store and having the option to grab a Starbucks coffee gives me great joy. Because there are no Target stores in Canada, I can only go there on vacation and it’s always high on my list. I will often fill the cart on the first trip spending well over an hour checking out each section of the store beginning with the red spots deals and through each clothigng section. Soemtimes I return items later - it’s so easy to make returns that I don’t think tice until I get home. What’s even better is when I see a clearance sign. It being just after Christmas, you can imagine I saw a lot ofthose this trip. And let’s be real here - I had to buy a new suitcase (at Target, of course) to get it all home. Call me crazy but if something gives you that much joy, I don’t see why I’d stop now.

Habit. | Simple Scrapper SPARK Magazine

Keeping good habits is never easy but in recent years I’ve been doing a better job at reflecting on what habits I want to have and how to acheive them. Writing in planenrs have always been a way for me to do that but bullet journals seem to be the best so far. The small sized annual books givs me enough structure and flexibility that it works for me. I take three bullet journals with me everywhere. You’ll find them on the kitchen table and dragged across the country. They keep me on task and on time. I feel in control and focused when I use them consistently. Ironically, in times when I am too busy I often won’t plan because I don’t prioritize it. I start to feel overwhelmed and realize I should never skip the few minutes to put pen to paper. Yes. I am a planner girl.

Teal: Planner //
My day to day planner where I write activities, appointments and many to do lists. Sometimes I include meal plans or lists detailing everything from parties to packing lists.

Orange: Work //
A lined bullet journal that has notes detailing phone calls and conversations. This is where I note skus and things related to work that I can’t forget.

Purple: Creative //
Each page is different as I note my mthly deadlines, list sales orders, customer address changes and everything in between. When creativity sparks, I get it on paper in here.

I think I can call it a tradition now... | Simple Scrapper SPARK Magazine

"I think I can call it a tradition now. Going to a cottage or a ‘tiny house’ in this case during the month of January to document memories . We are the memory keepers. But when I look back, we are not documenting the memories but rather making memories. Making memories outside of our immediate familes - with our girlfriends. A place where we can let go and unwine. Ahem. Excuse me, we definitely have a place for the wine. The drinks are as much a part of these trips as anything. Kristen makes drinks and Jess learns how to make the drinks but Cathy just drinks the drinks. We laugh. We do a lot of that. We eat. Usually a charcuterie board is involved. We talk. Maybe too much. I have to admit to Colleen that she’s right - time with girlfriends may actually add years to our lives. This trip we found ourselves overlooking the Conception Bay in Carbonear in the Parsons’ tiny house. A place where a white cat might hop up on the window sill and scare you silly. A place where you can sit in blue Adirondack chairs and listen to the ocean wearing Paula’s pyjamas with Kristen yelling sweet nothings in your ear, ‘You from da Pearl, Maid?!?’ It’s a place where down the street you become fast friends with the waiter and the cook at the Baccalieu B&B discussing gay rights and everything in between. I know I am lucky to call these girls my friends. They are pretty special.

Cathy, Colleen, Jess, Paula & Kristen: Jan 10-12, 2019"
