Hip Hip Hooray giftbag | #tgifc48

 Happy Good Friday!
I am so glad you are here!

This week's challenge at TGIF Challenges is a remix challenge, which means we'd like for you to use two of the three challenges of the month. I used the sketch, as well as last week's Sweet Tooth!

Remember that for any sketch, don't feel stuck into a box to create a card.  Anything will do!

Wishing you the best this week if you are celebrating Easter!
I am off to the Sunshine State for over two weeks on Tuesday!  Pop me a message if you are in the area.

Cheers,
Cathy

She turned 5 | Project Life

She turned 5 last summer.
The party was an equestrian party.
I got so many good shots so I decided to mix it up with a couple traditional layouts and a project life layout.

Most of the elements in both of these layouts come from the Ali Edwards story kits, a monthly subscription that I have been involved with since Day 1... and its still the first items I reach for when I start a new layout.

The rose gold "shine" comes from some Studio Calico grab bags that took advantage of during their Black Friday sale last year.

When I receive those grab bags each year, I separate everything and put them in dishes.  It's usually enough inspiration to keep me going throughout the year.

The love this, words, and chipboard comes from the kits.  The cork board hearts came from leftovers of a class I did at my local scrapbooking store, The Paperie.

In the top left corner you can see a quote over top a black and white photo. In each story kit, she includes a quote card.  Its not necessarily used in layout as they have story starters listed on the opposite side.  However, it was too perfect not to use in this circumstance.

Each kit usually comes with a chipboard pack, which always keeps me going when doing my pocket style layouts.

This is how the layout looks in my binder for those trying to decide whether they want to introduce different sizes.

Thanks for dropping by today!

Spring's not here but the Bum-my is. | Fancy Friday + tgifc47

I forgot.

I feel like this hamster... but oh. so. much. cuter.

Welcome to Fancy Friday.

Or in my case this week, welcome to Frazzled Friday.

I don't think Erica forgot... Let's see who wins this "remembering contest".

..It's a good thing I spent all that time planning this week.

That wasn't a waste of time at all. (sarcasm)

This month we are inspired by this "Spring-ish" board... but as I sit in my wool socks underneath my favourite ragtime quilt, I don't feel so inspired.. Hmph.  Imagine that.

I'll tell you what.  I'll make it a double post day.

Like a 2 for 1 deal. I am bringing you my TGIF Challenge Blog post.

TA-DA!

Hop.

Hop.

Hop.

... Like a bunny...

sing it now...

Seriously cute?  This little guy's bottom can be pulled open to reveal... EGGS! Chocolate eggs!

These cuties were created as part of this week's challenge at TGIF Challenges!

My superhero tip of the week: Because I created the pyramid with glimmer paper, I adhered everything with a glue gun...  Because guess what?  If you don't, you'll struggle. You can thank me later for this tip!

So come play with us!! But before you go... look at that cute little bum-my!

oh, alright... you can finally go see Erica.  She's been waiting for you!

action photos | #SCsketch

I went to my craft room to do something. anything.  I needed a break.

I checked around some of my regular inspiration sites with nothing.  I decided to check out Shimelle as she just started to do some weekly inspiration posts.  This week she challenged us to use three photos.  Ironically, I had these three photos already printed.

And because I procrastinated, I decided to check out Studio Calico's Sunday sketches. The sketch fit so perfectly that 20 minutes later, I had a layout.

... it's pink though... my layout.

really pink.

I think I'll be OK.

Have a great day!

From Land and Sea | #gdp026

I just love the sketch that the Global Designs Project has this week so I couldn't help myself but to play along.  I like it because its simple and clean.  My favourite's is Teneale's so make sure to check it out.
My project is also simple and clean - the stamp is heat embossed with black embossing powder on water colour paper.  Using my aqua painter and Stampin' Write markers, I gave the lighthouse some life.

Thanks for dropping by!  (Look out because its a double post day!)

Rockin and Rollin with apples | #tgifc46

Whaaaaaa?
Red.
Uh Huh.

Not hard to tell I've been down and out with strep throat.
What's worse than that, you ask?
A husband that also has strep throat.
A real life man strep throat.

It's a new sketch challenge at TGIF Challenges!!  It's simple and neat. Just like I like them.  I have no idea why I went all crazy with red up there but clearly there's apples on my mind.

Ohhhhh, you've missed seeing me?

Well, problem solved. Check out my video on how to do the background of this card with the rock n' roll technique.

Happy Friday!

just for you | #tgifc45

This week's TGIF challenge is a colour challenge!!

I don't know why but I find that a colour challenge really makes life easier for me.  BUT I have a way to approach it.. always. A system, you might say. I always take out the inks.  Then I grab a stamp that inspires me.  Using that single stamp, I just stamp on white paper.

You've seen my work and you know that I am happy with a couple images stamped on white paper.  I call that done.  So, if I go further, then it's bonus.

For this card, I first layered it on the Birthday Bouquet paper... (which I am still obsessed with) Then I decided I would make a pocket for a gift card.  Once I made that decision I used my circle punch to make a "hole" and sewed around...

But after I finished I thought I'd just make it into a card.

And so I did.

There's still a pocket so there's potential for me to toss a note or a gift card in there but for now, I like it the way it is.

Simple Scrapper March 2016

Welcome back to check out my projects created for  Simple Scrapper's member-only SPARK magazine. Both of these layouts were prompted by a journal prompt and a sketch.

This particular layout was created using the lovely Pink Fresh collection.

"We are a family business.  My father started this company 26 years ago with one little store, which has grown to 12 stores.  I went through business school and started a career but ended up back here.  While my parents go to Florida, I hold the reins.  It makes me proud - what’s he’s accomplished.  And so, I want to be the one to ensure my family’s future is secure for generations to come.  It’s a big thing to lay on someone, but I am prepared and certainly have the support.  This is the Christmas party - every year we celebrate with the staff."

I love this paper.  I really do.  It's from the All Boy collection by Crate Paper.  In actually fact, it was from her very first kit released in January of 2015.

Have a great day!
