Project Life Clean & Simple | #tgifc14

Hi everyone!
It's another TGIF Challenge but this time its a "mixer-upper".  This type of challenge happens at the end of every month.

The idea is that you use at least two of the past month's challenges.  For me, I used the Clean and Simple challenge from last week, as well as the "Brand New" Challenge.

Of course, I am using the new Project Life kits. This time, I also used one of the new Project Life page protectors from variety pack 2.  However, I cut the side off. Aren't I clever?

Make sure you play along with this week's challenge.  We've been loving seeing everyone's projects every week and are overwhelmed with the talent and styles! For more information, check us out at TGIF Challenge Blog.

Have a wonderful day!

Home Sweet Home | Fancy Friday Aug 2015

This month's fancy friday blog hop has a theme of "what inspires you?"

Does it surprise you that I am often inspired by product?
That seems to be more true lately.
But it truly can be anything.
It can be a photo.
It can be a story of a moment.
Often, I will journal ahead of time before I gather any product.
Other times its colors.
The truth is that fashion and clothing runs through my brain as well.

But for today's post, it continues to be the new Stampin' Up! Project Life kits!

I started to play around with the 2x2 cards in the Happy Times Project Life kit on a traditional scrapbook page.  I played around and then added photos.

After adding some 2x2 photos that I printed in black and white on my Canon Selphy, I realized that the large wood veneer would would wonderfully in the centre of my layout.

However, I still wasn't happy until I added grid lines by machine stitching with white thread around the squares.

You'll notice I also left some empty spaces where I planned to add the accessories.

Finally, I framed the whole layout with one of the Bohemian Designer Series 12x12 papers.

I truly had fun just moving the squares around.
Whats inspiring you lately?
Make sure to hop to Cindy to see what she was inspired by this month!

A lego birthday | #tgifc13

I know what you are thinking...
"that's a little simple"

Well, you smart pants.
That's because this wee's challenge at TGIF Challenges is...

To make this card, I embossed the image and sentiment in gold.  I then coloured each lego with my aquatinted and ink pads by using the cover to dip my pen.

And you know what?
Its awesome.

Play along with us this week!
(If you are at the Stampin' Up! convention, I am so sorry... I'll miss you.  Make sure to have an extra cupcake for me!)

Woohoo! card | #tgifctd02

Hopefully by now I am enjoying the beautiful sunny sights of Sarasota, Florida.
Please, please send me an email if you are in the area - I'd love to chat!

Todays project is this month's ThrowDown Challenge at TGIF Challenges.
I really find these challenges quite difficult but I tend to enjoy the result.
This month you MUST use four of the following products.  You cannot use anything else outside this list besides the "pantry items", which are what we might say are your basic supplies.

I used the Big News & Bravo stamp steps, pool party ink, hello honey ink and the Typeset DSP. As I played with the products my cards came together faster than I thought.  To colour the "woohoo" flags, I used the hello honey and pool party inks with my aqua painter (pantry item).   I immediately fell in love with the little flags and that's what inspired me.

Thanks for dropping by and make sure you play along with the challenge!

Happy Life Project Life | #tgifc12

Well now, the challenge at TGIF Challenge blog is to use your favourite new catalog item.  Mine has been the Project Life kits. This is a mix of Moments Like These and Happy Life.

My favourite thing on this layout is the way I captured my two kids laying on the couch.  The red hearts is cardstock and the roof is washi!! Love this wood veneer piece from the Happy Life accessory kit.

I love the stickers too - I stamped on the "Spring" to the banner below.  On that particular picture when I snapped it, I had intentionally wanted to show the sky.  I was going to digitally write something but instead this banner came in extra handy.

I also used my computer to type my journalling.  I've been using the same font lately to have consistency.  It's called Remington Noiseless.

Make sure to play along with us every week!
Keep coming back for more Project Life to come!

Stampin' Up! Bravo stamp set | #tgifc11

Itttttttttt's Frrrrrrridaaaaay!
I am so looking forward to the weekend.  Last weekend was very busy with my daughter's party, a photoshoot, family and chaos.  But this weekend... well. It's the weekend of Cathy. I have zero plans. None. Zilch. Nada. Isn't that amazing?

Imagine.. I may even read a book. A book! Yes! I don't even know what they look like anymore!  Any suggestions? My friend sent me the Amy Poehler book.  Yeah.  I can handle that.

Today is a sketch challenge from the gang at TGIF Challenges
Here's the sketch that they came up with:

You have until the end of the week to join us in this challenge!
See you soon!

hello cousin. | #tgifc10 color challenge

Well, my plan was to do a card.
A clean and simple white card. But I sat at my desk and scratched my head.
Sometimes challenge blogs can be inspirational but other times I feel like I am thrown in a box. It was time to get out of the box and feel free.

Seeing as I never have time to be unproductive I pulled out a piece of cardstock and pulled out a photo from my In Progress album. (Click here for more info)

Keeping with the challenge, I grabbed some paper scraps that I had with the colors mentioned above.  No blackberry paper. Argh. But I did have washi tape! I decided to sew them together on a diagonal flipping up the edges as I went.

After I sewed it. Key word here is after.  I then glued that piece to the cardstock and added the blackberry bliss washi.

Starting to feel it now I started clustering some 'Moments Like These' Project Life cards. Usually I hold it all together until I am happy. Once I am happy, I staple the top right corner.

My scrapbook pages usually don't go without journalling so I have a tag tucked in on the top.  Usually I have an idea where that's going as I cluster. In the photo below you can see I've decided where its going.  I then place red tape around the tag and adhere it to the layout.

It was so nice to see you - I hope you come back for more!
Love,
Cathy

My Pumpkin Challenge | Share a Smile Project #1

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

It's been busy using up all my scraps from my Paper Pumpkin kits.  This is another card that plays around with 4 or 5 of them.  This month's challenge at My Pumpkin Challenge is Share a Smile, which really means anything that can generate a smile to yourself or anyone around you.  A heartfelt thank you is so important and seems to have gotten lost in the digital age.  Click the link to join in on the July Challenge and come back next week to see my next week's project.
