Merry Patterns | Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Project

Welcome to another Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop!

I am so excited to bring you a project made from a brand new exclusive stamp set called Merry Patterns.  This stamp set is part of an amazing new promotion by Stampin' Up! beginning September 1st!

For a limited time, customers can get the Merry Patterns Stamp Set FREE when you host a party with $300 USD/$375 CAD in sales. You’ll receive this exclusive holiday stamp set in addition to the fabulous Stampin’ Rewards you’ll earn when you host a qualifying Stampin’ Up! party. This offer ends on October 31, so don’t wait. Contact your demonstrator today!
When I first saw this stamp set, I couldn't have been more excited to see that Stampin' Up! included the outlines of the stamps, as well as some patterned "filler stamps". I love the look of a nice clean outine and love to watercolour as you can see in my project today.  But for those days when I simply don't have enough time, its nice to have an option to fill the outlines with images quickly.

To create this water colour look, I used tempting turquoise refill ink as well as crushed curry refill ink with my aqua painter.  I dried the ink between layers so that you can see the variations of colours.

Thanks so much for dropping by today, be sure to check out Dani's project today!

A Watercolor Thanks | It's a Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop

Hi all,

I am back again with all the gang giving you alternative ideas for your monthly My Paper Pumpkin kits.

This month's My Paper Pumpkin is a card kit.  It comes with a super cute box and some adorable tags.  As soon as I opened the box, I was swooning over the little floral box. It's a perfect gift for someone of handmade cards.

This kit came with plenty of extra stickers and pre-printed sentiment ovals.  Staying true to my style, I used some of those elements and created a water coloured card.

The striped background of this card is actually the co-ordinating envelopes. I just cut it and used it for a card base! (Impressed, aren't you? LOL )

Thanks so much for dropping by - be sure to keep hoping to my funny and quirky friend Andrea!

That's a big letter | Fancy Friday Blog hop

A large letter C.
Made out of shimmery pink powder ribbon by Stampin' Up!
Adhered onto the ripped up tear tape in bussels.
Later secured by machine stitching.

All this was the starting point but a beautiful wedding card for the Caines Family.

My Fancy Family is bringing large fonts to you.  Although I wanted to dig out my oversized alpha dies when I sat at my white desk I saw the wood textured paper and magic dust started to spring from my fingers.

It's odd how inspiration comes about but I think I had all the right elements laying in front of me this time. The ribbon. The pearls. The wood textured paper. I had distressed water color stained paper from a "rejected" project to my right and linen thread to my left.

A final touch was to use my Stampin Up! chaulk marker and made "fake splatters".
Oh yes, I cheated.
They are fake splatters.
But it gets better.
Over top my carefully curated dots, I put fine tip glue dots over top giving them dimension and making them look even more real.

... so yeah, maybe sometimes I can be a little nit picky...
... but only when time allows.

Now it's time for you to see my friend, Cindy Schuster. Prepare to be amazed. Quite simply - as always.

Twirling My Worries Away | #tgifc121

This image.
I love it.
I picture a girl that is letting loose in the rain.
She's twirling her worries away.

I created this card for my friend who lost a loved one.
She's strong and she's powerful.
But life is tough and I thought this card might send her some strength.

This image comes with several image and includes the sentiment "life might not be the party we hoped for but while we are here, we might as well dance" as part of the Stampin' Up! Beautiful You stamp set. It's perfect and so true.  Tomorrow, I am jet setting to Toronto, which is a solid three hours plane ride for me. Follow me on instagram to see my adventures and of course, watch me dance as I get ready to see Coldplay.

But first - be sure to join the TGIF Challenge Design Team and play with this challenge this week. You have until Thursday, August 24th at 10am PST.

Sharing Sweet Thoughts | Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

Hi all,

This month's Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop focuses on the Ronald McDonald House 2017-18 stamp set, Sharing Sweet Thoughts. This set is truly near and dear to my heart as I have been lucky enough to be involved with the Ronald McDonald House here in St. John's, Newfoundland. With every stamp set purchased, proceeds are donated to the Ronald McDonald House local charities.

It's such a special charity and trily makes a difference in the lives of families every day.  I am very proud of the association with Stampin' Up! and RMH.

For today's projects, I heat embossed the images with silver embossing powder onto water colour paper.  Using my aqua painter and my Stampin' Write markers I coloured both images creating a tag and card.

Of course, I have been obsessing about using multiple trims on my projects - you can see on the card, I layered several underneath the sentiment.  On the tag, I attached a couple using the silver mini sequin trim, white baker's twine and powder pink shimmer ribbon.

These projects were difficult to capture on camera but the silver really makes this project magical. Be sure to try using the silver embossing powder on your next project!

Thanks for dropping but don't stop here! Keep hopping to see inspiration from all twenty global Stampin' Up! Artisans. My friend, Dani from the United States is up next!

Kraft is Coming Back | #tgifc120

Look-ee, Look-ee!
Kraft paper is coming back in the 2017 Stampin' Up! holiday catalog and I am so delighted!  Along with that fabulous paper, you can see a sneak peak here some of the musical patterned paper coming along.

The Holiday Catalog is so exciting and I have been working away to sort out how I'd like to launch it.

Today's card was created for TGIF Challenge Blog : #tgifc120 as a sketch challenge.  I always loved a sketch and today it jump started my creativity.  I'd love to see you give it a try.

See you soon!

No Ipads on the Table | Simple Scrapper

Another little story.
Another seemingly unremarkable photo.
But behind this photo there's a story.

We have a no device rule at the table. We’ve had it since the kids had ipads so we don’t have to give too many reminders. But today was Jane’s birthday - when they sat down with their pancakes in the shape of the letter J, I decided that it would be okay for them to share a show. Technology isn’t always connecting each other but sometimes it really does.
#siblinglove

This layout was created for the August 2017 issue of SPARK magazine, a monthly magazine exclusively for members of the Simple Scrapper online community. Owner, Jennifer Wilson provides sketches and story starters each month that help drive inspiration in your quest to document your memories.

This layout was designed on a 8.5 x 11" piece of cardstock. I typed my journalling using the Remington Noiseless font within the Photoshop Creative Cloud software. This came together quickly until I wanted to use the striped patterned paper until the photo as well as a backing to the page.  As such, I had to secretly but out a hold from the centre of the patterned paper and then adhere it under the picture.  I suppose its a great way to make your patterned paper go a long way.

Thanks for dropping by! If you would like more information on the Simple Scrapper Membership, please contact me. In addition, you can now see ont month of SPARK magazine for free!  This will help you see all the inspiration and resources that Jennifer Wilson provides.

That Narwhal Though | #tgifc119

That Narwhal though.
He's SO cute!!!
You can find him with his sloth friend in the Quirky Critters stamp set from Stampin' Up!

This design was coloured as inspiration for the TGIF Challenge #tgifc119.  I had fun watercolouring and moving the colours around so that it was just so. After it dried, I added some fun embellishments! It's hard to see but using my fine tip glue pen, I created several clusters of 3 little drops around the narwhal.  It reminded me of little bubbles in the ocean.

Be sure to play along with us this week for our colour challenge! Use the hastag #tgifc119 so we can see your amazing designs!

Peace in the Kitchen... I mean, Earth | Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

... "Peace on Earth"
... It's pretty ironic right now as I'd just take peace in my kitchen.  Wild Banshees are stomping around looking for containers and food to hold their new snail collection... Yup.  It's a sure sign of peace.

Stampin' Up! is getting ready for Christmas and although I resisted at first, so am I.  In July Stampin' Up! Demonstrators were able to get their hands on the Carols of Christmas Bundle, which includes the Carols of Christmas Stamp Set and the Card Front Builder Thinlet Dies.  Now, customers can purchase this bundle at a discounted price of 10% off.  Next month customers will be able to see the brand new Holiday Catalogue so be sure to contact your demonstrator today to get in on the action.
Last month, I showed you some quick and easy ways to use the "Deck the Halls" sentiment included in the Carols of Christmas stamp set.  This month I created a couple projects using the "Peace on Earth" sentiment.  This stamp fits oh so perfectly in the largest stitched shape square.

Lately I have been using my ribbons and trims more and more.  I simply love creating a bustle and layering it under cards or attaching it to a corner on a project like you can see below.  The binder clips or library clips hold those in place super easily.  This is my version of the tassle and pom pom trend.

I couldn't help but do a emboss resist with this sentiment.  It seems so perfect for the night winter sky. The Softly Falling Embossing folder gives the "snowball" feeling to bring everything together.

As for now, I've got to get some quiet time.... and well... Peace in the Caines Kitchen. Tootles!

Be sure to continue hopping as you can see inspiration from all twenty global Stampin' Up! Artisans. My friend, Dani from the United States is up next!
