A Special Edition: The Daily Debit

I am a Blogger.
And I have been "found".
Lately I've been feeling a little like....*turtle.turtle.*

(Yes, this is an inside joke...)

BUT if you are an accountant you might appreciate it.
.. if you are NOT... scroll down, there's a little project for you too. :)

So, to my special visitors...introducing...
In today's news, 175 markers walked out on the job in an undisclosed location.  Screaming and shouting for higher wages and better working conditions.  They've been under extreme work conditions and many of the employees are complaining of work related injuries. The list is ongoing but includes squinty-eye syndrome, numb-bum and sing-song tourettes apparently caused by watered down coffee. One marker was seen shaking uncontrollably when the burnt cookies showed up an hour and a half late.  The early mornings and late nights are taking a toll on the markers as they've resorted to eating Halloween-sized chocolate and chips (now known as hashbrowns) in the wee hours of the morning to stay nourished. Most of the markers can be seen walking the picket lines with "claw" hands and screaming out "No More Arbs, Until We Get Carbs!" They are forced to answer Questions of the Day and shackled to their desk to meet production quotas. It's a grizzly situation and only time can tell if we can get these employees back in the building.

*End Inside Joke*

Another project... :)
Accountants are pretty awesome... don't ya think?
We all need a real job, right? Right?

Artisan Wednesday Wow: Tablescape Wreath

Seriously.
Who wouldn't want to use this woodgrain background for anything and everything! Think canvases. Think scrapbook pages. Think your cork boards and your kitchen drawer liners.
Yeah. I love it that much.
(Want it? See the Thankful Tablescapes Simply Created Kit)

Since it came in a roll.  I started rolling.
This wreath is super easy.
And with the Gift Bow Bigz L Die, it made it way too easy to embellish it.

Did I mention it was easy?  Those leaves come pre-cut in the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit!
Lately, I love crinkling my seam binding ribbon.  All you do is mist your ribbon and hold it in your hand just for a little while.  Let it dry. (It doesn't take long.) Ta-Da!

It's Cindy's turn!! Oh, I am loving this week's projects! I love this team!

Back to My Love

Can you tell I am travelling and away in Montreal?

I'll be back soon with lots of new products and projects.

Side note.
I (heart) coffee.
I'd never make it without it these days.

I am leaving you with a special project today.... I hope you love it as much as I do.

Using very few products including the Build-a-Banner stencils, I captured the spirit of my lovely Jane.
Yeah... enough said really.

I love her.

Artisan Wednesday Wow: Index Cards

We got the envelope punch board in our box this month.
And yeah, it makes pretty amazing envelopes...
And people have been doing some pretty amazing file folders...
And yes, my life is a bit more unorganized than the "averageeeee... bear.."
"eh, Boo Boo?"
(oh my, I need to stop doing post so late at night...)

And so, I decide to make index cards so that I can organize one little part of my life.
Cards.

And every index card needs some friends and a box.
So, why not re-use the box that Stampin' Up! uses to ship their stamp collections in?
"Hey..... is that a pic-a-nic basket..?"
"Eh, Boo Boo?"

I couldn't resist.  If you don't know what I am saying chaulk it up to a Crazy Canuck! But make sure you check out what Cindy is up to!

This monogram tag is from the Simply Created Christmas Accessory Kit.  I am loving rosettes lately, as well as silver and gold.
But I couldn't stop there - Use the Build-a-Banner Kit for these days. Now the photo doesn't quite do it justice as there is silver and gold embossing on these tags.  Super cute.

You have until October 31st!
Catherine & Cathy also have two other challenges due on Oct 31st:

Artisan Wednesday Wow: Thankful

In honor of the Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday, I thought I would use the
Tablescapes Kit to create a gift card holder.
To create it, I just cut off the top and used sticky strip to create pockets. Place the gift card in the pocket on the left hand side and write your thank you note on the lines inside.
Yeah.  I love the kits.

Well, there's lots more of this hop left and I can't wait to see what everyone has in store.  Check out Cindy next!

Project Life: Any Mummers Allowed in?

Mummers.

mum·mer  (mmr)
n.
1. A masked or costumed merrymaker, especially at a festival.
2.
a. One who acts or plays in a pantomime.
b. An actor.

This week's Stuck on You Sketches Project Life challenge is: USE A CALENDAR!

Definitely play along - I had fun with my Christmas pictures from last year's "Mummering" tradition at the Rooms.  Something I most definitely am looking forward to this year!

The picture of the mummer is a cut out of the "coloring" page that they distributed to the kids. My daughter didn't color hers but I kept it. So, I cut it out and used it here! This was cut out and put on top of the page protectors.

Have a great day!!

Artisan Wednesday Wow: Burlap covered canvas

Wow.  Its been a BIG day here in the Caines' household.

Mr. Man had his first haircut.  He also discovered that "pointing" is Uber-Fun. And for the first time he was tugging on my leg and standing.  Ahhh, I love that.  He's so proud of standing and moving now.

So, its a day of firsts.

And doesn't that make us all so thankful?

I thought I'd document that.
Can't see the details...
("you gotta see the details kiddos")
The rosettes are made from the burlap ribbon and the cotton trim!! If you don't know how to make these rosettes, see my post here. And honestly, who can get enough of that gold foil and expressions thinlits.  I felt like I robbed my daughter's kiddy bank when I took the mini clothespin out of the Tag a Bag Kit... :)
How'd I do that? Well, I thought I'd do a canvas of some sort at first but I was inspired by the stamp sets sitting in front of me.  And the burlap that continues to be strewn around my house.  All I did was layer the burlap over the canvas and staple in the back.  Super easy.

You might be wondering where that gold doily came from.  Well, I broke out my gold ink pad and soaked it up.  Usually I would use gold embossing powder on top of it but for these purposes I didn't think it needed it.
I used the Tablescapes Kit for the pieces in behind the photo.  Seriously.  The paper in this kit is super awesome. I literally scrunched it up in my fist to distress them. F.U.N.
Well, there's lots more of this hop left and I can't wait to see what everyone has in store.  Check out Cindy next!
Did you see what's new at Stampin' Up!?

In my opinion, this polymer Halloween set is a must have!!
Bite Me Photopolymer Stamp Set
There's a new Everyday Card Making kit! This kit is $36.95 and makes 20 cards.  Its fabulous for the beginner card maker!
The October "Best of 25" stamp was released today and guess what?!? It's BEST OF CHRISTMAS! Wahoo!
Best Of Christmas Clear-mount Stamp Set
And for even better news... there's MORE hostess benefits in October!
Get $25 more hostess dollars when your workshop hits $350! Let me know if you want to host a party!! Don't forget that you can do this online now!
And if you want to join Stampin' Up! now's the time.  It's only $25 for a period of two weeks (vs the regular $125).  This promo begins on October 7th and runs for two weeks. If you are Canadian and want to be part of my team check out my "Join my Team" tab!

Boo Banner

Wow, its October!!

Yesterday felt like Summer, it's amazing!  But it's definitely October on that calendar. Geez! It also means a new challenge at Catherine and Cathy Create.  This month the challenge is to use black & orange. Easy peezy!!

Make sure you play along - you have until the end of the month!
I've been playing around with banners again - this time making a Boo Banner.  This is really easy so give it a whirl. Each square is 6x6 inches.  The edges are sanded and then edged in black.  I again used the Simply Created stencils
I just love the Simply Create Halloween Accessory Kit.... especially that bat.  I had to put some googly eyes on him!! So fun!
Have a great day!
