Card of the Week #001

Well, I wanted to. So I did.

Ombré. I can't get enough.

And with new Bermuda Bay and old but awesome Mambo Melon Stampin' Up inks in hand I played around.

To create the effect I put a couple drops of reinker on my Kraft mat. I added some peroxide. Grabbed a sponge and started swiping away.

This birthday card is on watercolour paper. I didn't see much of a reaction with the watercolour paper... Until I used dazzling details on my soft suede ink. Oops, I should have used an Archival ink like StazOn.
Since I had learned my lesson, I used Staz On for my Card of the Week!  Come back next Monday for another!

A simple but gorgeous card.

What you'll need (Stampin' Up)
  • Whisper White cardstock or watercolor paper
  • Melon Mambo re-inker
  • Morning Meadow and Simply Sketched stamp sets
  • Basic pearls
  • sponge
  • peroxide
  • corner cutter
  • Staz On ink

How do it it yourself:
1. Cut your whisper white cardstock (or water color paper) 4 1/4" by 5"5"
2. drop 5 or 6 melon mambo re-inker on your kraft mat.  Add a couple drops of peroxide. It should now look a little bit runny.
3. Grab your sponge and dip it in the re-inker.  Just a little bit at first.
4. Only going in the same directing, swipe from one side to another going across the page creating the ombre effect.  If spots aren't dark enough go over it again.
5. Allow to dry - 5 minutes max.
6. Grab the Morning Meadow and Simply Sketched stamp sets and using Staz On stamp it on.
7. In the centres of your flower apply pearls.
8. If you wish, round your corners using a corner cutter punch

And since my craft room just got hit with a tidal wave, I figured I'd see what the sketch was at the MojoMonday challenge #298.  Loved it.  And those My Paper Pumpkin polaroids were just sitting there waiting.
Oh. And just to tease you. I further created a swap card for convention that is a complete original. Stay tuned for it in July.

Cheers
Cathy
