Love Story Today Planner by Stampin' Up!

Hi Friends,
My Love Story Planner from Stampin' Up! arrived last week, just in time for me to start planning in August.

I am a planner.
Until I get too busy.  Then my life flies off the rails and chaos ensues.
But I am a better person when I plan, I remember things.  I don't think about what's for supper and it helps me stay on task rather than procrastinate.

Currently I use two planners: Leuchtrum Planner + Leuchtrum Bullet Journal.
To see more about how I use these please see this post.

I will be continuing to use my two Leuchtrums but going forward my creative planning will be in the Love Story Planner by Stampin' Up! Today marks the day that I sort out how I can best fit this journal in my life.

Check out my video on my plans and review on this planner.

Upon opening, I was floored how beautiful this planner looks.  The gold foiled polka dots describes my style. The watercolour floral design makes my heart pitter patter.  On the scale o

f how appealing this planner looks is pretty much a ten for me.

The planner comes with a number of items including the binder itself, a book mark, some stickers, post-its and refill pages.  I think its brilliant that Stampin' Up! gives the option to buy refill pages.

Once I began set-up, I noticed that the pages are designed to be arranged in a particular way.  Once you have that figured out, then you can fill in all your months.  Check out the video to see what I mean.  Like any planner, you have to make it work for you.  Here's my initia set up for August 2017:

What I love about this planner:
    - You can start this planner any month and any year
    - You can buy refill pages at any time
    - Love the easy to see monthly tabs
    - You can purchase a co-ordinating stamp set
    - The styling: polka dots + fonts + floral watercolour
    - A quick at glance calendar + notes area before each month begins

What I don't love about this planner:
   - It's a 2 ring binder... will it last? Only time will tell.
   - Is the cover durable?
   - It's designed to be arranged in a certain way: Does that bother you?
   - Horizontal daily layouts: I'd prefer vertical

Stay tuned on my Planner journey as I work through the kinks in this Love Today Planner by Stampin' Up!

easy DIY paperclips | #tgifc69

It's likely not surprise that this week's TGIF Challenge is a Back to School Challenge. It seems to be on everyone's mind these past few months.

For many Canadians, kids don't return to school until after Labour Day so I have three more weeks of Summer Bliss... HOWEVER, I am currently filling the planner with our new schedules and figuring out when I can squeeze in swimming and skating, bootcamp, etc.

I thought about this challenge in the respect where I always want to make sure that my projects can be used in my real life.   I don't make Back to School cards.  I do like to make some lunch box notes (click link to see last year's example) and labels for different things.

Stay tuned for more about how I am planning our schedules and how I am staying on task.

Cheers!

DO | Simple Scrapper

I don't always scrapbook about people but rather things that I am doing.  Lately, I've been busy getting organized.  It's a slow process but I can see a different in productivity, which is certainly ensuring I live a happy life. The little things seem to be

For this layout, I was inspired by Jennifer Wilson's story starters, which relate to the Spring Cleaning theme.  To find out more, you must become a member at Simple Scrapper.

As with many of my layouts these days, I continue to be inspired by Ali Edwards story kits.  This layout has some of those embellishments.

Check out those large alphas, which I believe came from Studio Calico.  I adhered those to a 4x4 transparency by stapling them.  This gave them the look that they are floating.

Come back again next month so I can show you my May Simple Scrapper layouts.

using my planner effectively | Erin Condren

A little while ago I mentioned that I was getting more organized.
A day at a time I have tackled projects, renovations and one child starting school.

I had already purchased a beautiful planner from Chapters but my sister convinced me to purchase the Erin Condren vertical planner.  I've been using it since July and playing with the layouts to see how I can best use it for me.

The above is a picture of my layout for this past week. You'll notice that I have a "running TO DO list" on the left hand side.  These are items that I'd like to accomplish this week. I also have cute little "plates" at the bottom where I have some meal planning done.

FIRST THIRD: This is where I note our family's personal schedule.  It helps me organize drives, babysitters and pack appropriate bags.  It also helps me to plan meals - in the sense that whether it needs to be quick and whether or not my picky eater husband will be sitting with us.

CENTRE THIRD: This is where I have my work TO DO priority list.  You can tell that I didn't get to much on Monday but I did get to most of Tuesdays list.  What will happen to Monday's list is that I will move those items to later in the week or the following week.

BOTTOM THIRD: My bottom third is reserved for other items, which could be a MUST DO TO DO item or a grocery list.

GROCERY LISTS: Often I stick a sticky note in my planner with the items that I need to buy rather than make a list straight in my planner.  That way I can pluck it out and bring it to the store.

I plan every day but I try to sit down and think about my week especially meals on Sundays.  I've done this already this week.  Here's how my planner looks for my nest week.  This will evolve as the week progresses.

Right now I am not much of a embellish type of planner girl but I do use stickers to keep me on task and organized.  I also use the occasional stamp.   One of the main reasons I don't do much embellishing is because I don't want my planner to get too bulky and I will also be tossing this in the garbage once the year is finished. :)

I currently subscribe to the Studio Calico planner monthly kits.  They usually include a small stamp, some stickers and some large cards.

As for stickers, I have found some stickers that I love from Lets Plan It, which I purchased from her Etsy store.  I love these three in particular.

This was a great reminder to change my planner cover.  I purchased a cover to celebrate Halloween, as well as some others that I loved. These covers can change whenever you like - so this is my hint to change it!

Stay tuned to my planning adventures in the months to come.
