Jack at Five | Simple Scrapper SPARK Magazine

Your cheeks smash up into your eyelids and I can barely see your eyes. You are smiling so hard and can’t contain your excitement. Today is the day that you turn five. While I am travelling, you kissed the cell phone many times as you showed me every little creature spread out across the floor that your new Paw Patrol Sea Patroller will be in charge of rescuing. Toys are very important to you and you play hard. I’ll miss watching you today but you are in great hands.

Since last year I didn’t think we’d ever be able to travel with you without a stroller but now you are running from gate to gate at “Jack Speed” and proud of it too. Although you are growing so fast, it’s super cool and super awesome. Every single morning I am so proud of you when you climb up the yellow bus to go to school as your blue sharks bookbag slides off one shoulder and then the other. Back and forth. Back and forth. You are still so small and as you know you are my “cutest”. You still slide your hands into mine as we walk across the parking lot to pick up Jane. And every single time my heart swells just a little more.

In sloth like style, your mornings are slow and we sometimes still carry you down from your bed to the couch. These mornings are closing so I’ll enjoy them a little more this year. While you say you want to be a fireman when you grow up I am certain you will be a builder or an engineer. But whatever it is, I know you’ll make me proud. And even if you make a mistake I hope you learn from them to grow.

Happy five Jack Caines. Party hard.
Love Mom.

Today's layout was created for the January 2018 SPARK magazine exclusively developed for the online Simple Scrapper community. Within the community we are provided with sketches and journal prompts in order to help inspire members.

This layout is a note to my son on his fifth birthday. While it's journal heavy, I wouldn't have it any other way.  I mean every single word and I am so thankful for this hobby where I have a place for my stories and words.

The majority of the embellishments come from the Ali Edwards Story Kits, as well as Stampin' Up!

Have a great day and welcome to 2018!
Cathy
